Bail rejected for Deepika Padukone’s manager
A special court rejected the pre-arrest bail plea of the Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash
The above case pertains to a drug case related to the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Fearing arrest, Karishma had applied for anticipatory bail in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) court in October last year.
After hearing the detailed submissions of defence and the prosecution, the special judge V.V. Widwans, however, rejected Prakash’s application.
The court has, nevertheless, stayed the order till 25 August so that Karishma can approach the Bombay High Court.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is probing the alleged nexus of drug peddlers and Bollywood celebrities, another revelation that came to light after Sushant Singh Rajput died in June last year. The CBI is also separately probing Rajput’s death.
Karishma Prakash got dragged into the case when a drug peddler took her name during interrogation after the latter got arrested. The central agency has so far arrested more than 20 people in the drugs’ case. Most of the accused, including Rhea Chakraborty, are out on bail. Meanwhile, sources in the NCB tell us that there may be many more names from Bollywood that will come tumbling out in the near future in the narcotics case.
