I want to be an actor who is a star, says Force 2 anti-hero Tahir Bhasin
Bhasin likes to go into the depths of a character, for he believes quality more than quantity.
Mumbai: Tahir’s life has changed drastically after his impressive performance in his first film, 'Mardaani' alongside Rani Mukerji. Talking about the impact of his debut film to a popular magazine, the actor said, "The biggest thing for an actor is to not have to introduce himself to a producer or a casting director. And that happened. It’s a filmy thing to say that life changes on a Friday, but I experienced that in real life."
In his second film, 'Force 2' Tahir earned critical acclaim for his menacing portrayal of an anti-hero. Filmmaker Abhinay Deo praised the actor by saying, "Tahir is a thinking actor who is superb at giving subtle nuances in performances. That is a rare commodity in today’s age."
Tahir is a method actor, who likes to go into the depths of a character. For him quality matters more than quantity, as a result the actor dedicates months to develop a character before he start shooting for his film.
The 29-year-old actor said, "Your first film is your resume. After that, your talent counts. And in the two years between Mardaani and Force 2, I realised that you are only as good as your last film. If you are not constantly reinventing yourself, you are going to lose to someone who is better."
"The ultimate goal for an actor is stardom… I want to be an actor who is a star," the actor concluded.
Tahir, who has been trained under theatre veteran Barry John for two years at a very young age, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in film from the University of Melbourne in 2010.
