We live in a land of big fat Indian weddings and two Bengaluru girls are working behind the scenes to make the most precious day for couples picture perfect.

As Benny Dayal took the next step of starting a new chapter of his life with Catherine, it was Divya Vithika Wedding Planners who planned the entire wedding festivities that was attended by AR Rahman, Vishal Dadlani and many others.

Catherine Philip and Benny Dayal (yes, the famous singer who gave us hits like Badtameez Dil, Bang bang, Locha-e-ulfat and many more) tied the knot this Sunday.

The wedding planners who have an edge over others reveal what went behind the scenes, as they relax soon after a hectic weekend, “Benny’s wedding came to us a month ago and we took care of the complete décor, flowers, catering, light, sound, welcome bags and hospitality.  Although Benny had his own DJ, we organised the Carnatic music besides doing the stage management. The three day wedding was a massive affair and it was a joy to plan. Once they had communicated to us about what they wanted they left it to us to take care of all the arrangements. The three day wedding kicked off with a beautiful Morroccan themed mehendi at Temple Tree Leisure. This was then followed by a glamorous red, gold and black cocktail evening. Seeing Benny serenade his beautiful bride when they did their first dance was one of the most beautiful sights we have witnessed. The poise and grace with which this couple danced together was a visual treat. The wedding day was beautiful in white and gold. Cathy looked resplendent in her Sabyasachi saree. It was wonderful to witness a beautiful Hindu wedding followed by a lovely Christian ceremony,” Vithika says.

So how did these wedding planners meet and get into wedding planning we ask, and Vithika who studied at NMKRV College and then did an international business management course from UCLA states, “Divya won Miss India Asia Pacific in 1997 and I won the next year in 1998 and she gave me the crown. That’s how we met and became friends. I was in California and the day I moved back to Bengaluru, I met Divya who was already into corporate events. One of her friends was looking for help for a big wedding and it was a huge wedding in Tumkur for 7,000 people. It was a big success and there was no looking back after that.”
