Celebrities root for Kangana Ranaut
Many personalities are admiring Kangana for her stand in her ongoing feud with Hrithik.
Kangana Ranaut is slowly but surely getting public opinion — at least celebrity opinion — to her side in her ongoing feud with Hrithik Roshan.
Sonam Kapoor, who filmed a music video with Hrithik Roshan not too long ago, is a bit divided in her loyalties. In a recent interview she said, “I saw Kangana’s interview and I think she is pretty cool. But I don’t know what was going on between Hrithik and Kangana. What had happened between two people, nobody will ever know as well as themselves. I have grown up with Hrithik and I know the kind of person he is. He is an incredible human being — sensitive, charitable and kind. I have worked with him. When you grow up with someone, you think the best of him. Having said that, women are persecuted a lot in this country. So as a woman, I would want to support another woman. But as I said, Hrithik is a friend of mine and me being a feminist and a woman, I am torn. I wish I could form a clear opinion on this, since I am known to be opinionated, but I honestly don’t know what else to say,” she said.
At the trailer launch of TE3N, Vidya Balan expressed her admiration for Kangana. She said, “I really think it is none of my business to be judging anyone but I have the greatest admiration for Kangana because she is standing up for herself. I think that is very creditable because as women we find it very easy to stand up for other people, our family members, children, husbands, parents but we rarely stand up for ourselves. She (Kangana) is standing up for herself, so kudos to her and more power to her for that.”
Amitabh Bachchan too has been drawn in the debate. At the same venue, he said, “One cannot know the behaviour of a person, or what he or she is going through, by sitting beside them... But I appreciate that women are empowered, they stand on their feet. We’ve always believed that women should have their own strength. Fifty per cent of the nation’s population comprises women. The society needs to value their contribution and importance.”
Akshay Kumar, who incidentally lives in the same building as Hrithik Roshan, said during the launch of a song from Housefull 3: “The war is on not in Bollywood, it’s in fact on in my building itself. All I want is for it to end and things to get resolved peacefully. This should not go on, it needs to stop now.”
