Mumbai: Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee starrer ‘Aiyaary’ makers were sure of a Republic Day release, till ‘Padmaavat’ came in line to release their much-delayed and much-controversial film. The film then got postponed for a February 9 release, thus clashing with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’. But then the movie did not get a clearance from CBFC, since the defence ministry wanted to watch the Neeraj Pandey directorial.

Mumbai Mirror now reports that the reason for it is the fact that the movie deals with a much-spoken-about scam, the Adarsh Society scam.

In the trailer which the makers revealed, Naseeruddin is heard saying, “Kha jayenge, neta aur neta ke chamche,” which looks like an indirect reference to the scam.

A source close to the development also told the daily that the film unearths many scams, the Adarsh scam being one of them. “It is integral to the plot,” the source added.

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, ‘Aiyaary’ also stars Pooja Chopra, Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles.
