Shaadi pucci hai!
Indications are that the media will be kept away and pictures of the functions would be posted on social media as they happen
Though Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and their families have been maintaining a studied silence about the couple’s rumoured wedding next week, Ranbir has been busy making preparations for his nuptials. Here are some details.
Security details
A horde of paparazzi will obviously be trying to get the best visuals. Alia’s publicist was seen at the Vaastu buildings (where both Ranbir and Alia have apartments), and the head of security of the building, was also there – a clear indication of an event being planned. (Ranbir is the only A-lister actor who does not have a publicist).
Media coverage
Indications are that the media will be kept away and pictures of the functions would be posted on social media as they happen, and then made available for media usage.
Booking space
A bunch of pre-event wedding events are planned, and Ranbir and Alia have booked the banquet hall in the complex after undertaking to keep noise levels down. The number of guests are restricted too, as the residents’ society in the complex does not want other occupants to be inconvenienced. The society also specifies that those using the hall will have to ensure that the place is left clean.
Guest list
The invitees’ list covers everyone in the Kapoor khandaan including Kareena, Karisma and uncle Randhir, and the Jain family within the Kapoor family, including Aadar and Armaan Jain and Tara Sutaria. Also present will be the Bhatt brood — Alia’s parents Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan and sisters Shaheen and Pooja Bhatt. The Karan camp – Karan, Ayan Mukherji and some other film makers – also feature in the guest list. Ranbir has invited a couple of close friends while Alia has called her bestie Anushka Ranjan.
Change of plans
Mahesh Bhatt had earlier given dates for the show Pehchan: The Unscripted. But he cancelled the days between 14th and 16th in order to attend the wedding. Neetu Singh had also allotted dates for Dance Deewane Junior, the dance show which she is judging along with Nora Fatehi, but has since cancelled the weekend shooting.
“Neither Mahesh Bhatt nor Neetu Singh Kapoor knew about the wedding plans till less than a fortnight ago,” says a source. “The couple were planning to get married in April initially, then wanted to shift the date to September, but then decided to get married in April itself because of some spiritual advice they received,” according to the source.
Nothing official about it
The families of the couple are pretending to be oblivious of the plans. “Neither Ranbir nor his mother Neetu have told me anything about the marriage. The wedding preparations are not happening yet. The preparations can happen only when the date is confirmed. The date is not confirmed yet. So, what do I confirm? I am not even aware whether the two have got engaged,” says Randhir.
Mohit Suri’s sister and actress Smiley Suri says no one has spoken about it in the family. “Alia was my first student when I started dance training. She was six. My uncle Bhattsaab would bring her. We don’t have any information about the wedding,” she says.
Unofficial confirmation
Meanwhile, a relative who has been invited for the wedding disclosed that only close family and friends are on the guest list. “The wedding functions will last for four to five days, with different ceremonies. They will get married in normal Punjabi style at RK House. I do not have any information about how many people will come to the wedding. I was told by Bhattsaab in the first week of April that it could happen on April 17 or 18. The wedding will take place on the night of 17. However, we have not been asked to follow any dress code yet,” says the person.
The final Brahmastra
The film Brahmastra will be released after Ranbir and Alia are actually husband and wife. They started shooting for the film almost five years ago, and subsequently started dating each other. So it is rather poetic that the film releases after their wedding.
