Exclusive: Here's how Manisha Koirala transformed into Maya Devi for Dear Maya

Known to be one of the prettiest actresses in showbiz, Manisha Koirala had to put in a lot of effort to get into the skin of her character, Maya Devi in her next, Dear Maya.
The director of the movie, Sunaina Bhatnagar, reveals that they struggled to make the beautiful lady look fragile. “We did a lot of make up tests, and tried all kinds of prosthetics make-up because the idea was to create a woman who doesn’t take care of herself, and who is neglected. We were worried that she should come across as fragile and not scary,” Sunaina reveals.
“Eventually, she didn’t use prosthetics, but we used some special make-up to show the scars. We had to show her as fragile. It wasn’t easy because she looks so beautiful in real life.”
Manisha also had to look a little plump in the movie, and so heavy clothes were used to make her look fatter. “We had to make her look a little fat, so we made her clothes extremely bulky, so she looks the part. We did that deliberately,” Sunaina says.
