Controversial Scene in OMG-2

Bhopal: Akshay Kumar-starrer OMG-2, scheduled for all India release on August 11, may land in trouble with priests of the famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday threatening to sue the makers of the movie for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus by allegedly slighting Lord Shiva in it.

All India priests’ association Pt. Mahesh Sharma, who is also the servitor of Ujjain temple, said that the body has already initiated the process of sending legal notice to the producer, director and protagonist of the movie seeking public apology and also removal of ‘objectionable scenes’ in the film.

“Our lawyer is sending legal notice to them”, he said.

The trailer of the movie has already been released.

Some scenes in the film were shot in the Mahakaleshwar temple.

Citing a scene in the film, shown in the trailer, he said that Lord Shiva, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, was seen buying ‘kachori’, the quintessential snack of Indians, at a roadside eatery near the temple which deeply hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.

Besides, the film was given ‘A’ certificate which means the movie contains sleazy scenes, he said.

“It is highly objectionable to have scenes of Mahakaleshwar temple in an adult film. It is an insult to the Sanatan Dharm”, he said.

The priests’ body on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Ujjain district collector demanding removal of ‘objectionable scenes’ and scenes of the temple in the film.

The body threatened to stop screening of the movie in Ujjain and other parts of Madhya Pradesh if the particular scenes were not removed from the film, Mr Sharma said.
