On hearing the crowd chant ‘Sachin Sachin’ in the anthem, it surely gave us goosebumps.
So, when asked the God of cricket about his emotions on hearing his fans chant his name for the first time, he said, “I remember my mother would do that when I was playing downstairs and wouldn’t come home. She would say, ‘Sachin…Sachin upar aa jaao (Sachin come back upstairs)’.”
Music by AR Rahman and sung by Sukhwinder Singh, the video of the anthem makes you relive the entire journey of Sachin on and off the field.
It makes you travel through the difficulties he faced while practicing on the pitch, his relationship with his fans, his obsession with the sport, and the revolution he brought by making this sport an altogether different religion for cricket fanatics.
The cricket maestro, usually known for his bat to do the talking, spoke his heart out at the do.
Adding further about his documentary, he continued, “Talking about the movie and the life that I have been able to relive through it is simply magnificent and overwhelming. Today, knowing that a movie is being made on my life, and now the Sachin Sachin song that AR has done with Sukhwinder, it’s a formidable combination I would say. I didn’t know ‘Sachin Sachin’ would go beyond my playing days, and here it is now playing in the theatres.”
On being asked what is it in the film about him that his fans are unaware of, he answered, “No, you guys don’t know everything! That’s why this movie. There are so many moments, and the footage that we have been able to capture, and take the footage from my personal account at home, which stays in my locker, that footage nobody had access to; it was only for the family and no one else. Being a private person I had to kind of balance that out. I know my fans want to know more about me, and I also want to get closer to them by showing the other side of me, which they had not seen.”
“We watched like 10,000 hours of footage. We have used about 20-25 minutes from that,” added the producer.
The producer further revealed, "Years before the trend of making biopics on sportsperson emerged, 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams' was already in making from 2012."
