Bombay Talkies sequel: Karan to try hand at comedy for 1st time, casts Vicky Kaushal
After the Rani Mukerji, Saqib Saleem and Randeep Hooda starrer last time, this time Vicky Kaushal is the chosen one.
Mumbai: Four years after four prominent directors Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banejee came together for 'Bombay Talkies' and presented four short stories in the form of an anthology, the quartet is coming back again with a similar film.
And now details from Karan Johar’s short film for the anthology has emerged and Vicky Kaushal will be starring it.
According to sources, "The series will be an out and out comedy where Karan will unleash his creativity to the brim. Karan approached Vicky after seeing the rushes of Raazi and after giving screen test Vicky was selected to play the main lead. The final paperwork is to take place next week."
Except for his short film for the last instalment revolving around marital discord and homosexuality, Karan is largely known for his brand of out-and-out commercial films. On the other hand, ‘Masaan’ tagged Vicky with the image of an actor for content-based cinema. So this collaboration makes it the first time that the duo will be trying their hand at comedy.
With this film, Vicky adds another film to his already growing kitty including Raju Hirani’s Dutt biopic, Meghna Gulzar’s 'Raazi', Ronnie Screwvala’s 'Love Per Square Feet' and a film on URI surgical attack.
The 'Bombay Talkies' sequel is being produced by Ashi Dua and presented by Ronnie Screwvala.
