Salman Khan

Salman Khan announced the quirkiest title of his film career on Friday afternoon when he tweeted that the name of his next film will be Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Farhad Samji – the director of Housefull 4. Interestingly, Farhad had also met Shah Rukh Khan a while ago and posted pictures on social media.

The actor who is known to release his films on Eid has also had many releases during Diwali earlier – the last one being Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. “Earlier, Salman’s films usually released on or around Diwali – be it Hum Aapke Hain Kaun in 1994, Deewana Mastana in 1997, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1999, Kyon Ki in 2005, Jaanemann in 2006, Saawariya in 2007, Main Aur Mrs Khanna in 2009 and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in 2015. But from 2009, his films started coming on Eid and performed very well. Salman decided to move to Eid, which he discovered as a new festival option from Diwali, which was the only other big release date for many decades. Wanted in 2009, Dabangg in 2010, Bodyguard in 2011, Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, Kick in 2014, Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015, Sultan in 2016, Tubelight in 2017, Race 3 in 2018 and Bharat in 2019 have been his earlier Eid releases,” informs Atul Mohan, editor Complete Cinema.

Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali will release on Eid 2021. Incidentally, Salman was to start work on Kick 2 for producer Sajid Nadiadwala who also is to direct that film, but we are told that it may be pushed by a year.

Trade sources inform us that Salman may be starring in a double role in the film.
