Priyanka Chopra was body shamed
The actress also opened up about rumours surrounding her plastic surgery and said that her nose is original.
Actress Priyanka Chopra recently spoke about a lot of important topics, including body shaming, on the chat show The View, where she appeared as a co-host.
“Before I became an actor, I met a producer-director about the possibility of acting. I was a beauty pageant winner at that time; I was Miss World. And he said that everything was wrong about me. He said my nose was not proportionate, the shape of my body was not proportionate.”
When host Joy Behar interrupted to ask if that’s her original nose, Priyanka replied, “Yes, this is my original nose.”
The actress continued, “There is a false perception of what our bodies should look like. Especially when you are in the business, you put on a couple of pounds and people are body shaming you. It happens. Christmas happens to all of us. I am an Indian so I have Holi, Diwali, and my body fluctuates and I am fine with it.”
At the show, PC also spoke about how it’s okay for women to have late pregnancies. When Beyonce and Janet Jackson were being discussed as examples, the hosts on the show wondered if a false hope is being given to women.
“We’ve always been told that when you’re younger, you will have healthier children... I think people are already aware of that. But I also don’t think as a public person myself that it is the responsibility of Janet Jackson or Beyoncé. I think we should be excited that we live in a time where science is allowing women to be able to take charge of our own lives.”
