Mithun Chakraborty gives a thumbs up to Vivek Agnihotri's book 'Urban Naxals'

Mumbai: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty started his career with the Bengali film Mrigaya, where he played a naxalite- a subject that Mithun Da has been very well versed with. When Vivek Agniotri met him to give him a copy of his brand new book "Urban Naxals; Mithun Da lapped it up instantly and spoke at length with the filmmaker.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri recently met Mithun Da to gift him a signed copy of his first book as an author 'Urban Naxals and what was meant to be a brief meeting ended up being an hour long conversation on the subject where Mithun Da walked Vivek through the genesis of the movement-  the evolution  and devaluation of Naxalism.

Vivek Agnihotri recently launched his first book as an author titled 'Urban Naxals'-  The Making of Buddha in a Traffic Jam. The book documents the unique jouney of his theatrically unreleased film Buddha In a Traffic jam and how it reached a cult status despite not hitting the theatres. Agnihotri unmasks the subtle forces at play both in the film industry and society at large, which corrupt , influence and coerce masses into thinking and acting in a certain manner. This inconspicuous and indigenous bunch of people scattered within the society form the Urban Naxals who wage a weapon free guerrilla warfare all the time.

Talking about discussing his new book with Mithun Chakraborty, Vivek Agnihotri stated, "It is a homogenoeus mixture out there, very difficult to really spot and nab the Urban Naxals but if you read the book you will understand their modus operandi. They have a pattern and in a strange manner they are organised. Its like a propaganda that they are running. Mithun Da loved the concept and he understands Naxalism at its raw form, no one better than him in the industry to really discuss this subject with. We  had a very compelling conversation".
