Back to good old days for Ranveer Singh, Aditya Chopra
Ranveer and Adi bonded even more during the Paris schedule of the film with Adi being very involved with Ranveer's performance.
If there are two filmmakers that Ranveer Singh shares a close bond with, it’s Aditya Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali — the former launched him, while the latter made him a huge star. And after doing Bajirao Mastani for Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer has now completely devoted himself to his other mentor Adi Chopra for his venture Befikre.
While the two are known to be quite close to each other, word is that Ranveer and Adi bonded even more during the Paris schedule of the film with Adi being very involved with Ranveer’s performance.
Apparently, much of the passionate romance between Ranveer and Vani (Kapoor) in the film is inspired from Adi’s own relationship with Rani Mukherjee.
A source reveals, “Of all of Adi’s protégés at Yash Raj, which includes Sushant Singh Rajput, Ayushmann Khurrana, Arjun Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Parineeti Chopra, Ranveer is his favourite. So much so that when Adi set his mind on doing his most intensely romantic movie, Befikre, it was Ranveer who was his first choice and insisted on waiting a whole year for the actor to complete Bajirao.”
Ranveer too is making sure that he returns his gratitude and has gone back to his roots at Yash Raj. “He started with Yash Raj and then moved on to other filmmakers. But now that he’s back, it’s exactly like the good old times,” adds the source.
Ranveer was also apparently the main man behind the Yash Raj tribute presented at a recent awards function. The source adds, “Every number presented at the on-stage homage was carefully hand-picked by Ranveer himself. In fact, Ranveer had really wanted Adi to attend the function, but Adi never attends these functions; so much so that he wasn’t even willing to make an exception for his favourite protégé.”
Adi is a pioneer of the ‘no award show appearance’ brigade, which has come to include Ram Gopal Varma, Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Vishal Bhardwaj and several others.
