Paris: Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor gave the city of romance a taste of Bollywood as they launched the trailer of their upcoming film ‘Befikre’, at the Eiffel Tower.

The Aditya Chopra- directed movie became the first film in the history of cinema to have an event on one of the most popular monuments in the world.

"Paris is one the world's most beautiful cities and it has been a privilege and an honour to shoot the film here. The kind of support we got from the crew who was almost entirely French and the civic authorities was overwhelming," Ranveer told reporters.

"Without a shadow of doubt this has been my most memorable shooting experience. Spike in tourism has happened before through Hindi films and I can assure the tourism spike from India is going to be huge after this film," the 31-year-old actor said.

The actress, who is fluent in French and has spoken the language in the film, said the Parisian essence is the prominent part of the movie.

"There is a very prominent character in the film apart from Dharam and Shyra and that's Paris. When we were shooting this film here we were not Indian, not French but just ‘Befikre’," said Vaani.

The trailer was launched in the presence of Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo and Indian Ambassador to France Mohan Kumar.

"With this film, Indian people will discover the most prestigious and enigmatic places of Paris. This film will encourage Indians to come to our city. I am honoured that India's biggest production company and biggest actors have chosen Paris as the location for their film," said the Mayor.

‘Befikre’ is a free spirited contemporary romance, celebrating Parisian love, and the Indian Ambassador feels the film can extensively promote the tourism.

"There is only one religion in India and that is cinema. It has got a lot of soft power and the time has come for India to project this soft power.

"Bollywood has got the power to unify. With ‘Befikre’ I think we can promote Paris and the tourism," Kumar said.

The romantic comedy has been shot across the popular locations of the city. The movie was completed in just 50 days with 90 percent of the crew being French.

Produced by Yash Raj Films, ‘Befikre’ will hit Indian theatres on December 9
