Never expected a legend like Mithoon to plagiarise my song: Amaal Mallik
Mithoon allegedly lifted a tune for his latest single 'Ab Alvida' from Amaal's 'Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon'.
Mumbai: Amaal Mallik, who’s been churning hits out by the dozen, has accused composer Mithoon of plagiarising one of his songs.
Amaal claims that one of the verses from Mithoon’s latest single ‘Ab Alvida’ has been lifted from Amaal’s Emraan Hashmi-Esha Gupta starrer single, ‘Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon’.
“I came across Mithoon’s song while I was watching a video by my mentors Salim-Suleiman. One of my friends pointed out that a minute and 30 seconds into the song, it has a striking resemblance to mine,” Mumbai Mirror quoted Amaal as saying.
The 25-year-old composer maintained that he had no ulterior motives and all he sought was due credit.
“For me, Mithoon is a legend. it was an honour to work with him on 'Sanam Re' but you don’t expect someone of his stature to do something like this. The least he can do is own up, even if it was not intentional. I don’t want to malign him or make money. My songs are my babies and I am protective about them, especially ‘Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon’ since I dedicated it to my grandfather. I cry every time I hear it. If this had happened in the west, it would have amounted to a lawsuit of billions. Mithoon remained unavailable for comment.
