I'm exploring new sounds for Nagamati: Amrish Ganesh
Mallika Sherawat stars in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil versions
Actor-turned-music composer Amrish Ganesh is a happy man these days. He is making a foray into Bollywood for a straight Hindi flick titled Nagamati.
The story of the period horror thriller takes place in three timelines - 1800, 1947 and 1990. Mallika Sherawat headlines the film.
Amrish speaks to DC from the sets of Nagamati in Mumbai.
Amrish says, “I wanted to get the look and feel of the production design, as the background score is extremely important for a historical film. I attended the launch pooja of the film at Mumbai, where the makers have erected three lavish sets.”
Asked if Nagamati is a Hindi version of the Tamil film Paambaattam, which went on the floors recently, he replies, “The story is the same and director Vadivudaiyan helms the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions.”
Sharing that Mallika Sherawat is the protagonist in all the versions, he says all the other actors have been picked up from the respective languages.
The composer, who got the opportunity to interact with the Dasavatharam star, says, “Mallika Ma’am was looking stunning. I asked her how she manages to look the same from the time she appeared in films and she replied with a grin that she had been working hard to take care of her health. ‘It is God’s gift,’ she added,” he said.
Amrish reveals that the film has four songs, including an intro song for Mallika. “You didn’t have plugged and electrified sounds in olden times. So I am planning to use live instruments for both the songs and the BGM and there will be a mix of north and south musicians,” he explains, adding, “I am exploring new sounds and fresh soundscapes for the film.”
