Anushka Sharma fawns over Meryl's speech
The actress stated that a traditional thinking society does affect her and her work as an actor.
Among the many that fawned over Hollywood actress Meryl Streep’s speech at the Golden Globe awards taking on US President Elect Donald Trump, was Anushka Sharma. The actress posted a long letter on her social media page applauding the spirit of Streep and taking lessons from the veteran on how to conduct oneself as an artiste.
She wrote, “Being liberal minded is a requirement of an artist. Seeing things for what they are, as they are Observing, understanding, empathising and then portraying that person on screen who may be very different from who they may be as people. And in order to do this and “to enter the lives of people who are different from us, and let you feel what that feels like,” They have to have the absolute freedom from judgement …That is why being a good artist is directly proportional to how much of an ability you have to be non judgemental, how liberal thinking can you be. The actress stated that a traditional thinking society does affect her and her work as an actor. She wrote, “if the very people who watch these people on screen, watch these thought provoking they don’t always have to be socially relevant, just simply thought igniting characters on screen don’t want to see anything besides what they already know. When they don’t want to see another person’s point of view, that their perspective in life is the only one they feel should hold true . Then, in the long run the artist fails to grow too.
