Taapsee Pannu clears the air
The actress dismissed speculation that she will play poet Amrita Pritam in Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad.
On Tuesday, entertainment media pounced on Taapsee Pannu’s social media post about legendary author-poet Amrita Pritam, assuming that the actress is playing Pritam in Anubhav Sinha’s under-production film Thappad, without any conclusive evidence.
But, Taapsee was quick to dismiss the assumption. “It’s sad that the majority neither bothers to read and interpret my tweet efficiently, nor connect it with what I posted just a day before the post on Amrita Pritam. Sadly, I have to spell it out so obviously to you,” she sighs.
The Pink actress, who recently signed a film where she plays a sprinter from Gujarat, goes on to say that she will inform the people if she was to play the poet in a film. “It’s sad that people think I would write such a cryptic post if I am portraying that magnificent character on screen. The truth is that my character in Thappad is named Amrita, and since her name has a certain connect with Amrita Pritam, I used one of her quotes that reflect my character’s life in Anubhav sir’s film.”
