TOH box-office collection: Downfall continues on day 4, real test begins from Monday

The Aamir Khan film has practically done its business over the last four days and there is nothing much more to come.

Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindostan became the fastest 100 crore club Bollywood film but it doesn’t have much to boast about since it witnessed the major downfall on the fourth consecutive day. The YRF film received severe backlash from the critics and the word-of-mouth by the audiences is also on the low side.

According to noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Thugs Of Hindostan has collected Rs 17.25 crore net on Sunday making a close total of Rs 123 crore net in its extended four day weekend.

The Aamir Khan film has practically done its business over the last four days and there is nothing much more to come. It's been suggested that he film is going to suffer badly in coming days, so it is a 'wait-and-watch' situation at the moment as the real test shall begin from Monday onwards.

Talking about the results of film's downward spiral, Taran Adarsh recently predicted it would be tough for the film to sustain day 5 onwards.

He wrote: “The DOWNFALL continues... #ThugsOfHindostan gets weaker with each passing day... With biz declining further on Day 3 [Sat], the writing is clear on the wall... Will find it tough to sustain from Day 5 [Mon] onwards... #TOH”

The much-awaited 2018 release had the audiences flocked to the theatres in large numbers making the film Bollywood's highest opener recording a path breaking first day Box office collection of 52.25cr. However, with mostly negative word of mouth, the film got a solid shock with dropping collections post the huge opening.

'Thugs of Hindostan' is based on Philip Meadows Taylor's 1839 novel 'Confessions of a Thug' and is about a gang who posed a serious challenge to the British Empire in India during the early 19th century.

Bankrolled by YRF, Thugs of Hindostan is helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya who previously directed Aamir's 'Dhoom 3'. Also starring Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles, the film was released on November 8, 2018.
