Abhishek Chaubey and Ronnie Screwvala roped in Sushant after seeing his success
The actor will portray the role of a dacoit in the untitled film.
Mumbai: After news of Sushant Singh Rajput signing ‘Udta Punjab’ director Abhishek Chaubey’s untitled next broke, a well-placed source told us that even Ranveer Singh was in the race for the role. However, it was Sushant who bagged the film later.
But for reasons best known to Ranveer, Ronnie Screwvala (producer of the film) and Abhishek Chaubey, the ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actor could not be part of the project and so this flick, based on dacoits of Chambal in the 1970s, went to the man-of-the-moment Sushant Singh Rajput. The makers were apparently impressed with his past few performances and zeroed on in him for the part.
Other than this film, Sushant will also be seen in ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’, ‘RAW’ and ‘Drive’. ‘Raabta’, directed by Dinesh Vijan, is his next release opposite rumoured girlfriend Kriti Sanon.
