After row over memoir, Nawazuddin Siddiqui not keen to promote Monsoon Shootout
The actor, on the lookout for an image clean up, has decided to stay away from negative roles.
After Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s memoir created a stink, his team and lawyers have advised him to stay out of the public eye. Nawaz has decided not to promote his latest release, director Amit Kumar’s serial-killer thriller Monsoon Shootout in which Nawaz plays an axe-wielding serial killer.
The actor, on the lookout for an image clean up, has decided to stay away from negative roles. A source says, “Nawaz now wants to stop playing the dark, scummy characters that he has been playing with habitual expertise since the beginning of his career. His focus at the moment is on cleaning up his image both on and off-screen. Director Nandita Das’ biopic Manto, which is based on the Urdu poet-writer Sadat Hassan Manto, is a big move ahead for Nawaz. His entire focus at the moment is on promoting Nandita’s film. Monsoon Shootout is an old commitment — the film was completed three years ago.”
