Number game has become important in our generation: Abhay Deol
The actor wants to strike a balance and is open to both, art and commercial films.
Abhay Deol was last seen on the big screen in 2014, in the film One By Two. His next movie, Happy Bhag Jayegi, is a romantic comedy, which releases on August 19. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the movie also stars Diana Penty, Jimmy Shergill and Ali Fazal. Excerpts from a conversation with the lead actor:
On being a good cook
“I love eating healthy and learnt how to cook from my roommates in Los Angeles. Today, I made grilled chicken and vegetables. back in India, our mothers or staff do everything for us.”
Working with Diana Penty
“Although the industry is really competitive, we are not. Unlike other heroines who are out to prove themselves, Diana is comfortable with who she is.”
Striking a balance between art and commercial films
“I have learnt so much from my experiences and now, I am open to both commercial as well as art films. The number game has become important in our generation. Paise ke liye kaam karna hai — it is content versus money. But, I think the next generation will surely choose content over money.”
About his late father
“I do miss him a lot. I wish he was here to watch my latest film, HBJ. I am sure he would have liked it a lot. He would often say — ‘beta, achcha kam karna hai’.”
