Prabhas might have rejected Padmaavat but he did the right thing, here's how
'Padmaavat', previously 'Padmavati', was Sanjay Leela Bhansali's dream project in the making since a long time.
‘Padmavaat’ is the second highest grosser of 2018. Every character, especially Ranveer Singh, walked away with praises for the film.
The project was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dream project which was in the making since a long time, even before ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.
The casting of this film changed over the years and finally SLB found his characters in Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
If a report on Quint is to be believed then Ranveer and Deepika, who had already given hits with the director in ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’, were already finalized for the roles of Alaudin Khilji and Rani Padmavati respectively.
Normally it would be assumed that Shahid joined them as Maharawal Pratap Singh soon after, but the certain report suggests that ‘Baahubali’ fame actor Prabhas was approached for the role which Shahid played.
According to a source close to the project, once Prabhas heard the narration and the scope of his role, he reportedly did not want to sign the Bhansali dream project.
That was probably a wise decision which Prabhas took because after a project like ‘Baahubali’, the role of Maharawal might have added very less weightage to his career graph.
