I'd written this role for Aamir Khan: Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan
Advait, who considers Aamir as his guru, says, I auditioned Aamir for the role and that audition was so funny.
Superstar Aamir Khan has taken his manager Advait Chandan under his wings, after the Lagaan actor decided to act in his debut film Secret Superstar.
Advait, who considers Aamir as his guru, says, “I auditioned Aamir for the role and that audition was so funny. We were so sure that nobody could pull off that role like him,” he explains. The debutant filmmaker reveals that he was worried about disappointing the A-list star. He says, “Aamir doesn’t approve of mediocrity. It is scary to meet his standards. We work at our own pace hence we thought we won’t be able to release the film by August 4, due to which we also had to postpone the release date,” he added.
Secret Superstar is the story of a small-town girl played by Zaira Wasim, who wants to be a world-famous singer, and how Aamir mentors her. Aamir will be seen playing singer Shakti Kumar in Secret Superstar. Advait reveals he had written the script keeping him in mind. He says, “I had written this particular character for Aamir, but I never told him this. He was already producing the film, so I thought it would be too much if I ask him to act as well. After I got signed as a director, I told him that I had written the part for him.”
The filmmaker reveals that his fans have a surprise in store when they will watch Aamir onscreen. He says, “This tedhapanti suits him. It’s the most tedha character Aamir has ever played,” he added.
Advait, who is now a director, also misses being Aamir’s manager. He says, “Aamir’s life is so exciting. I miss working with him as a manager. You get to learn something from him daily. He works 24/7. When I stopped working with him, I didn’t know what I was doing with my life.”
