Aamir Khan goes OTT
Currently filming the remake of Forrest Gump, the actor’s team in Mumbai is working on developing several stories that need to reach the audience.
Aamir Khan, who wanted to first release his production venture Rubaru Roshni on the digital platforms, instead chose to put it on television for this Republic Day. However, the film was later shown on two OTT platforms simultaneously. But having worked a bit on the Osho biopic briefly with Shakun Batra before the Rajneesh bio went into cold storage, the Laal Singh Chaddha actor had a taste of the web.
Currently filming the remake of Forrest Gump, the actor’s team in Mumbai is working on developing several stories that need to reach the audience. “Amin Hajee, who is a close friend of Aamir, is also working on a project that he will be directing for him, as are a few others. There is one more project that Aamir has greenlit called Uncle or Uncleji. He has registered both these titles with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA), which is mandatory for filmmakers to do to release their films with the said title,” says an industry source.
Aamir has himself heard scripts from filmmakers – and not necessarily just the ones that he will be acting in – akin to what Shah Rukh Khan too has been doing now. “A formal announcement will come soon once he returns from the shoot of Laal Singh Chaddha and greenlights the projects, after tying up with the digital platforms,” adds our source.
