Keeping last year’s ‘fashion fails’ in mind, Sonam Kapoor showed her haters why she has earned the title- Bollywood’s fashion icon. Sonam made heads turn when she appeared on the red carpet in a stunning custom made haute couture gown from the house of Ralph & Russo. She was attending the screening of 'Mal De Pierres', at the film festival.

This is the first time that Sonam will be screening her film, in the six years that she has been attending the festival. The actress had mentioned in the past that she would love to screen her film at Cannes, and this year proved to be her lucky year. ‘Neerja’, a biopic on braveheart flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, with Sonam in the leading role, will be screened in the Marche du Film.

However, it isn’t Sonam’s film, but her bold fashion statement that is making all the right noise at the festival. Fans and critics took to Twitter to share their comments on the actress’ elaborate gown. While many fans drooled over the beautiful gown and its flowing cape, there were a few others who thought the dress looked like a rumali roti.

... And then there were others who begged to differ.
