Mumbai: Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment in association with Amazon Original has come up with a web show based on life beyond cricket during league tournaments, titled 'Inside Edge.'
The trailer of 'Inside Edge' shows a team of cricket players 'Mumbai Mavericks' owned by actress Richa Chadha, where she plays an actress-turned-entrepreneur. The T20 team is a franchise playing for Powerplay League.
It projects the dirty game that conspires behind the most adored sport of the country- Cricket.
The show revolves around the game behind the game, which involves sex, scandal, greed and glamour sans cricket.
As the trailer suggests, cricketers turn into mere puppets in the hands of politicians and the ones in power, often dancing to the tunes of those with zero knowledge of the sport.
It also highlights the plight of the rookie in the team.
Present at the unveiling of the trailer was the entire star cast of the show- Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Angad Bedi, Sayani Gupta and many others in crucial roles.
The makers of the show Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani (of Excel Entertainment), and Karan Anshuman (director) clarified that the show has not been entirely drawn its inspiration from Indian Premier League (IPL), neither resembles people associated with it.
At the trailer launch, Farhan revealed that he would want to make a biopic on any person who is inspiring, for instance Angad Bedi's father Bishan Singh Bedi, former captain of the Indian Cricket Team, or on Kapil Dev, and many other inspiring sportspersons.
While Saif Ali Khan is coming up with a show on Netflix, we asked Farhan if he would appear as an actor on any of the web shows.
He excitedly responded, "I'm waiting for Amazon to come and tell me that they are making Spider-Man in Hindi."
The complete cast of 'Inside Edge' includes Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Sanjay Suri, Angad Bedi, Tanuj Virwani , Siddhanth Chaturvedi, Sayoni Gupta, Sarah Jane Dias and Amit Sial.
The show will be launched in over 200 countries worldwide.
