Katrina Kaif’s birthday plans
The birthday girl says that she and her mother are working hard to expand the organisation.
It is no secret that Katrina Kaif supports her mother Suzanne Turquotte’s NGO Mount View in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai.
The birthday girl says that she and her mother are working hard to expand the organisation. “What’s important is that we try to keep expanding it with every opportunity that we get. Right now, we will again plan to raise some funds. With this fundraiser, it will help us expand the 250 schools that we already have In Madurai. We are building more and more schools so that we can enrol more and more children and impart proper education to all of them. Imparting good education to the students, especially girls, is our main aim. Girls, if educated, can choose better platforms for themselves and will not be dependent on anyone. This will give them a proper and decent living,” she explains.
The actress also pointed out that educating young women is the need of the hour, adding that girls in villages are not even allowed by their parents to go to school.
“We try to visit houses from different villages and try to convince their parents. Enhancing the knowledge of proper education in parents from villages is also very important. Mount School name enable local children to join school. Perhaps, if this school wasn’t there, poor children would have deprived themselves of education,” she opines.
We also asked Katrina about her role in the organisation specifically. “There are a handful of women who have dedicated and spent a few years taking the NGO and Mountain Schools forward. And even though I have a different profession, I join hands with them in spreading awareness. Connecting to the NGO really makes a difference, this is also of my personal interest,” she concludes.
