Dulquer Salmaan is the newest entrant in Bollywood. The son of  Mammootty, who has a huge fan base in God’s own country, Kerala, is now working in a film with Irrfan Khan. The film is being directed by actor and writer-turned-director Akash Khurana.

“It should be out in April or May next year. It is called Karwaan. It has me, Mithila Palkar, Irrfan Khan and Amala Akkineni. It is a pretty interesting cast. It is a road trip film and is funny and light-hearted,” he explains.

Dulquer has a huge fan following among the women. “I do not think too much about it,” he says shyly.

The actor also plays the role of Gemini Ganeshan in an upcoming biopic on actress Savitri.

“I spoke to his family and went with what the director told me. I am trying to capture what he was more off screen than on screen. I am not going to imitate him or his performances. I am going to get the essence of the man off screen,” he says.

Despite the fact that he is about to do a Bollywood film, Dulquer does not see this industry as a destination.

“I don’t see myself coming to compete with anybody. There is enormous talent here. I am here only to do good work. I do not want to lose my focus in the Malayalam film industry. That is where I primarily work. I will work in Tamil and Hindi only based on the work I get offered,” he adds.
