Riteish recycles mom’s old silk sari
The actor’s gesture has won him a lot of praise
Riteish Deshmukh has walked the sustainability talk by recycling one of his mother’s old sarees to make kurtas for his two sons and himself.
The actor posted a video on his social media account, accompanying Diwali greetings, showing the three of them dressed in similar sky-blue kurtas. ‘Stitched new clothes for the kids for Diwali from mother’s old saree’ Riteish wrote in Hindi.
The video starts with Riteish’s mother Vaishali shaking out the silk saree. Then comes the shot of the actor and his sons Riaan and Rahyl dressed alike and smiling into the camera. Rahyl even breaks into an impromptu dance.
The post has received much appreciation from netizens, who have lauded the actor’s commitment to sustainability.
“Hi Ritesh that really calls for much applause & this one coming from a film celebrity is worth appreciating. I have been doing this for quite a while, It has loads of emotional strings attached & gives lovely loving feeling!!” wrote one Twitter user.
“What a beautiful gesture. Being rich does not always give you all the happiness. Sometimes you need to find & feel it around ??” tweeted another.
