After clearing Padmaavat for release, CBFC in panic mode and on the edge
Sources say that the police were also informed and were asked to make sure nothing untoward took place at the CBFC office in South Mumbai.
Filmmakers are usually worried and run scared of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, this time around, the CBFC too is on the edge after passing Padmaavat.
And for the first time ever, when CBFC members went about their duties to certify a film, they were surprised to see a posse of policemen at the location. Their initial thought was that an important dignitary was visiting the office. But what’s happened since has been shocking.
“First, last Friday, the CBFC was merely surrounded by the Karni Sena,” says a CBFC source. “Later, we were told that they had even attacked and injured some school children, who were performing on the Ghoomar song from Padmaavat. So, the CBFC did not want to take any chances, and asked for a force of eight policemen to be deployed outside, lest the Karni Sena decide to attack the board, which passed Padmaavat, including the chief Prasoon Joshi.”
Sources say that the police were also informed and were asked to make sure nothing untoward took place at the CBFC office in South Mumbai.
