Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor kissing

Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor’s new poster for Ki And Ka is raising a few industry eyebrows — because it features the two actors kissing. And lest you think that some moral indignation is what has caused those raised eyebrows, let us assure you that’s not the case. What industrywallahs seem surprised by, is that Kareena has agreed to circumvent her “no kissing on screen” clause for her latest film. Did director R. Balki’s persuasive powers have anything to do with Bebo’s decision?

“Kareena and Arjun play husband and wife in my film. So, what do husbands and wives do? They show affection with a kiss, right?” countered Balki, when we quizzed him about his leading lady agreeing to pucker up.

Apparently, Ki And Ka has several scenes where Kareena and Arjun trade affectionate pecks. And Balki says that “to kiss or not” was a conversation he never needed to have with Kareena. “The pecks and kisses are a given in a marriage. How can I show an urbane, married couple in Delhi not doing normal things?” he said. “Bebo didn’t even ask me why her character had to kiss her screen husband.”

Balki says Arjun and Kareena play a content couple. “Arjun and Kareena are the ideal spouses. In fact my wife (filmmaker Gauri Shinde) is already asking me why I can’t treat her the way Arjun treats Kareena in Ki And Ka. So I see major trouble for husbands after the film’s release!”
