Exclusive: Rajkummar Rao is the best actor in his generation, says Hansal Mehta

The mysterious life of national hero Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose will come alive in the form of a web series, courtesy director Hansal Mehta, who has teamed up with his favourite actor Rajkummar Rao once again. Talking about it, he says, “This will not be a classic biopic. The challenge that’s on my part is to show this present generation the hero that he really was and that too in a language that they can easily relate to.”

Rajkummar, who was accompanying the director added, “We all know, almost everything about (Mahatma) Gandhi. We all know about his story, his struggles and his love for the country. However, there has always been this mysterious air surrounding Netaji Bose, his life and struggles. There’s so much that we still don’t know about him and that’s what we have planned to do bring on screen.” Lastly, when asked Hansal, why does he keep casting Rajkummar in all his projects, and he says, “I get commissions to cast him. No, jokes apart, we have done a whole number of real-life stories together, whether it was Shahid, Aligarh and the upcoming film Omerta. He is very special to me. I think, he is the best actor in his generation.”
