Mumbai: ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ shoot is on in full swing, and now the team has reached Uttarakhand. But what’s more interesting is that instead of staying a luxurious 5-star hotel, they (including the VIP leads of the movie, Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor) have opted to live in a hut.

The 10 houses where the team is currently living were supposedly chosen by the producers of the film much in advance.

A source told Mid-Day, “The producers toyed with the idea of five-star stay initially, but realised that the closest ones are in Dehradun. The conveyance would have been a hassle since the location is a three-hour-plus drive from Dehradun. That's when Shahid and the producers decided to opt for homestay. When they suggested the idea to Shraddha, she instantly agreed.”

“Shahid opined that staying close to the locals would help Shraddha and him pick up their dialect, which would lend an air of authenticity to their characters,” added the source.

Directed by ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ helmer Shree Narayan Singh and produced by T-Series, ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is scheduled to release on 31st August.
