Gone are the days when Bollywood producers were potbellied men. They are now young, smart, fashionable and sexy enough to strut on the ramp. On Friday, the Ladies’ Wing of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry invited producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment to be a part of their annual initiative ‘IMPACT’ to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Explains Prernaa, “The objective was to introduce the work of rural women artisan-entrepreneurs to a wider market; showcase their textiles, garments, and accessories; and support and sustain their artistic skills that have kept alive the traditional craft. This would secure the interest and well-being of women artisans to help promote their trade. We envision that through this exposure, they will gain a better understanding of promoting their craft and it will also help them emerge in the professional world of fashion.”

“Through this endeavour, we gain insights into how women in the 21st century have emerged in their own right in the areas of law, media, culture, business, health and rural development. IMPACT focuses on working towards a bright future where every Indian, especially women, live courageously, follow their heart, see potential, believe in themselves, take risks and keep making history for years to come,” she says.

Prernaa, who agreed to walk as one of the showstoppers in the final round, signs off by saying, “There were other women achievers like Simone Arora and Nirja Birla who walked the final piece for each weaver in the grand finale. I felt honoured and privileged to be sharing the ramp with these remarkable women for such a noble cause.”
