Exclusive: Sarkar 3 writer gave love letter to Big B after he praises his script
The writer of Sarkar 3 is awestruck by RGV's body of work. This job was indeed a dream come true.
Writer P. Jaya Kumar is just 25 but has already made an interesting start in cinema. Hailing from Railway Koduru, Kadapa in AP, little did he know that he would be the writer for the sequel of a popular franchise, Sarkar, one day. The mechanical engineer has worked as a creative consultant for Ram Gopal Varma since 2015 and holds a Masters in Sociology and discontinued a cinema related Masters in Arts and Aesthetics from JNU Delhi, because he got a call from RGV.
Interestingly, it wasn’t love for cinema that brought him so far. Instead, the desire to experience, understand and interpret the many nuances of human nature pushed him to explore films. “Film is just a medium I found for the purpose and a very effective one at that, besides books,” explains Jaya Kumar, who adds, “When I was lazy to deliver my optional term papers within deadlines, I wrote all the papers based on subjects around RGV’s work which I feel I’m super thorough with, and then sent copies of the same to him. I don’t know if he even read them but he messaged to say he wants to meet. Within 38 hours, I was at a hotel in Hyderabad discussing films with the RGV!”
The only films of Amitabh that Jaya watched are those directed by RGV. “I’m more awestruck by RGV, the super director of superstar Amitabh Bachchan. For me he is the Godfather of Sarkar,” he says.
When Amitabh was to hear the narration of the story, the writer was arrested by the thought that the legend, was going to give his judgement. “It was like matchmaking. The only difference was that my thoughts were to be presented in front of him in a naked state with a demand to being completely shameless for being seen, looked at, including being judged for imperfections if any and being subjected to a critical gaze. With all this in my head, I left the office before Amitabh was even there,” he says.
Interestingly, the actor loved the climax and Jaya Kumar reacted by writing a love letter to him. “It was later published as the intention of the film in the official website and I felt like my love was accepted,” he says, signing off.
