Aamir Khan to play modern day Bhagat Singh?
The actor is interested in the project, but he has dates available only after three years.
Working with Aamir Khan is not an easy task, especially if you are someone who wants to rush through things. The actor, who is known for taking his own sweet time in deciding on scripts and in preparing and researching meticulously for his projects, prefers having just one thing on his plate at a time. While this is a known fact within the industry, rumour has it that an independent producer who chanced upon a meeting with the Dangal star recently, found out this truth the hard way.
A source tells us, “The meeting happened in Mumbai and was coordinated by Aamir’s team. The two discussed a movie idea and the possibility of Aamir taking up the project.” However, while Aamir seemed interested in the idea, the producer was apparently left dismayed when the actor told him he could only take it up after three whole years. This is because of the fact that even though he doesn’t have much on his plate right now, the actor doesn’t mix his commitments between TV and films and is usually off films when shooting for his TV show.
Our source further revealed a brief sketch of the script and told us, “The film is not a period drama and it is set in a modern day timeline. The story is likely to have references to the revolutionary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, however, it is not about his life. It is an interesting story and even Aamir liked the script and has asked the producer to work further on it. However, he also informed the producer that he would not be able to take it up for another three years. But the actor has given the producer the option of choosing another actor if he cannot wait that long.”
And from what we hear, the producer is in two minds, whether to wait or to approach another actor. We sent a text message to the actor’s spokesperson but didn’t get any response.
