Exclusive: Anil Kapoor to turn playback singer for role in Fanney Khan
The character has to be shown going from being off-key to tolerably in tune.
Anil Kapoor has always been an adventurer. And now in Fanney Khan, where he plays an aspiring singer, Anil will be heard crooning on-screen for the first time.
A source in the know says, “It was earlier decided that Anil would get someone to do playback singing for his role. But then, Anil plays an aspiring singer.
The character has to be shown going from being off-key to tolerably in tune. And, a trained singer cannot achieve this transition in tonal quality. So it was decided that Anil would sing himself.” And that means more hard work for this actor. Anil has got a singing coach on-board to get him to understand the nuances of the art.
Incidentally, Anil had sung earlier with Salma Agha for Bappi Lahiri in 1989 in an album titled Welcome. But it was, what was known in those days, a ‘private’ album.
