Mumbai: So far many people from the industry have voiced their opinion on the ongoing controversy surrounding Pakistani artiste and Karan Johar’s film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
The recent artist to join the bandwagon is renowned screenwriter Salim Khan, who says that there is no place for discrimination on the basis of cast, creed, language and religion in Bollywood.
In a series of tweets, Salim Khan wrote, “Film industry divided?? No way film industry is THE one place where there is no place for discrimination on the basis of Language religion caste & creed. What works is talent & capability. This is true from the time of Dada Saheb Phalke till date.”
The screenwriter also said that there are some celebrities who have “aligned themselves to political parties for personal gain.”
“It is true that there are some amongst us who have aligned themselves to political parties for personal gain. And Yes we are a happy lot. If our films work we are happy and if a rivals film flops we are happy too. And we live happily ever after. THE END,” Salim Khan wrote.
Salim’s reaction came after ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ director Karan Johar broke his silence on the issue.
In an emotional video statement released on Tuesday, Mr Johar said that he would “not engage talent from neighbouring country given the circumstance” but also made a public appeal for his film. Amid growing voices from a section of politicians and film bodies to stall the release of ADHM or erase sections that has Fawad in it, Mr Johar, said: “I beseech you to know one thing...that over 300 Indian people in my crew have put their blood, sweat and tears in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and I don’t think it's fair to them to face any kind of turbulence on account of other fellow Indians”.
