HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE RECOGNIZED AFTER DEDICATING YOURSELF TO MUSIC FOR SO LONG?

It has been nearly two decades in this industry now, and I feel quite content about it. Looking back, I can say I had a great and magical time because, without music, I’m not sure what I would be doing with my life. I’m still learning with each passing day, and every musician I meet drops a new seed of learning. It has been a joyful ride, and I’m thankful to everyone who supported me along the way.

ABOUT YOUR RECENT TRACKS LIKE BESHARAM RANG FROM PATHAN AND YOUR TAMIL SONG KAAVALAYYA, HOW DO YOU APPROACH DIFFERENT GENRES AND LANGUAGES WHILE MAINTAINING YOUR UNIQUE STYLE?

When it comes to working with artists, there is no difference, the only distinction lies in the language that I don’t speak, and it’s important to make an effort to get it right. So it is essential to listen to what your composer and lyricist are saying, and then you express and sing.

GRAMMY NOD: OVERDUE RECOGNITION OR TALENT ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGED?

Obviously, being part of a Grammy-nominated album is really exciting; it’s a moment that I will remember throughout my life. This was not even on my dream list or a wish list, but something really came true, and life is unexpectedly beautiful that way.

YOUR EXPERIENCE ON THE GRAMMY-NOMINATED ALBUM, LOVE LETTERS — INSIGHTS AND FEELINGS ABOUT THE GLOBAL RECOGNITION?

Years back, at NH7 festival, fate entwined our lives as I performed with Karsh Kale, and Anoushka was also there. We connected during my London trip, exchanging music and stories. Anoushka sent me a mesmerizing new song, and adding vocals seemed perfect. With Shirin’s beautiful Punjabi lyrics, the song took shape. It was an internal journey, profoundly inspiring. The Grammy was never my aim, but when it happened, immense happiness and excitement filled me. Persistence matters more than talent or hard work; pushing through tough times is crucial. I practice daily, always learning. For someone who doubted achievements since childhood, this recognition was surreal. To the youth, I emphasize learning music and pursuing excellence, leading them to glory. Embrace your journey, work hard, and greatness will follow. Music fuels my soul, making life extraordinary.
