Watch: Coldplay charms India, sings Channa Mereya and Vande Mataram

The massively popular band was performing during the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai on Saturday.

Mumbai: Indians have been waiting to watch their favourite band Coldplay charm them all over again, but in person, and in front of their gobsmacked, besotted eyes.

However, they absolutely weren't prepared for what was in store for them when the Chris Martin frontmanned band took the surreal stage in Mumbai, on Saturday.

The band, who's always been vocal of their love for the country, sure did belt out their cult numbers, including, 'Fix You,' 'Yellow,' 'Scientist,' 'Paradise' amongst others, took the lakh odd fans in attendance by singing the cult 'Maa Tujhe Salaam,' composed by the legendary AR Rahman.

What made it even more incredible was that Rahman joined the band on-stage for the gig as the crowd went ballistic.

Coldplay definitely wasn't in the mood to stop, as they took to interpreting a recent Bollywood chartbuster, in their own inimitable, ambient style.

When Chris Martin began crooning Arijit Singh's soulful 'Channa Mereya' from 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,' the crowd new they were witnessing something historic.

The band, which was headlining the Global Citizen Festival, was joined by the crème de la crème of Bollywood, like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Alia bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh amongst others, as well as other top international acts like Jay-Z and Demi Lovato, sure has left a lasting impression on even its staunchest of Desi critics.
