Audio: Felt like raped woman during Sultan shoot, says Salman; apologises
Comment in response to a question on hectic shooting schedule; women's panel asks him to apologise in 7 days.
Mumbai: Actor Salman Khan, whose interviews often make for a very good read for their cheeky one-liners and flamboyant quotes, is now being trolled for a rather unfortunate comment he made while recounting his experiences during Sultan’s shoot.
In a group interaction with the media in Mumbai, Salman said shooting for the role was rather challenging. “You look like a fraud if you haven’t trained properly. You need to put in those many hours as any wrestler does and that's what we have done. Now when you are shooting, you are continuously wrestling for 6 hours. So, if I have to pick up a 120 kg person, and drop him down, I got to do it 10 times. In the wrestling match, it happens once or twice. Ten times from 5 different angles for 6-7 hours, either I am picking up or throwing him or he is picking me up and throwing me. It is like the most difficult thing. When I used to walk out of the ring, it was actually like a raped woman walking out. I couldn’t walk straight. I would eat and then head right back to training. That wouldn’t stop."
The comparison to the ‘raped woman’ stunned journalists at the event. It was crass and insensitive, to say the least. However, in a few seconds, the actor seemed to have realised his mistake. He went on to say in a rather apologetic tone that he shouldn’t have made that comparison.
He also urged the media not to report the quote which he had blurted out by mistake.
In the same interview, Khan said he had been able to quit every "vice" except women, saying that he had given up cigarettes, coffee and alcohol but not female company. "There's nothing left to quit anymore," he said as reported by AFP.

National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Lalitha Kumaramangalam expressed disgust over Salman's comment. She said, “Considering the number of women fans he has, he shouldn’t have made such a statement. Salman Khan should apologise.” NCW has asked the actor to apologise within 7 days.
Shaina N.C., a spokeswoman for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra state, tweeted: "Rape is an exercise of power to destruct a woman's self esteem, (from what) I (know) of @BeingSalmanKhan he respects #women so he must apologise."
Twitter has reacted with both fury and disbelief.
