Salman had to undergo rigorous training for the wrestling drama and had said that after shooting a scene, he used to feel like a "raped woman".
The superstar's comment did not go down well with many, who took to Twitter to express their angst and slammed Salman.
Salim, however, said rather than focusing on his son's mistake people should celebrate International Yoga Day. "To err is human to forgive divine. Today on Intl yoga day lets not run our shops on this mistake."

National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Lalitha Kumaramangalam has sought a public apology from the Bollywood actor and asked for an explanation.
Dubbing Salman's comment as 'irresponsible and careless', Kumaramangalam told ANI that the actor would be summoned if his explanation is unsatisfactory.
"This is very irresponsible of Salman to give such a careless statement. The commission has taken a suo moto cognisance and has sent a letter to him, asking him that what drove him to make such a statement as his comments smell of patriarchal high headedness that prevails in our country and we are highly offended by it," Kumaramangalam said.
"Meanwhile, we have asked for an apology and sought an explanation. In our letter, we have also mentioned that if we don't feel satisfied with his answer then we will summon him before us," she added.
