Now it’s title trouble for Laxmmi Bomb
Hindu Sena is up in arms over the name
Akshay Kumar's upcoming film Laxmmi Bomb does not seem to be able to steer away from controversy. The latest issue is a demand by the right wing Hindu Sena that the movie be renamed.
In a letter to Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar, the Hindu Sena has also demanded appropriate action against the film's makers.
The organisation claimed that the title of the film hurts the feelings of Hindus.
Vishnu Gupta, the National President of the Hindu Army, wrote saying, “If our demands are not met, my Hindu soldiers will oppose this film. If the name of the film is not changed before its release, I will appeal to all people associated with Hinduism not to view the film.”
The Hindu Sena also alleged that the film was so named in order to incite Hindus.
Recently, Laxmmi Bomb came under fire from Love Jihad activists who trolled both the movie and lead actor Akshay Kumar mercilessly in the aftermath of a jewellery ad showing an inter-caste marriage.
The film’s troubles began years ago, when Raghava Lawrence first wanted to make it. It moved from Salman Khan to Ajay Devgn and then came to Akshay Kumar. After it was announced, the producers and overzealous marketing guys put out a poster without consulting the director Raghava Lawrence, who decided to exit the project, handing it over to Akshay because he believed in the actor. Akshay later managed to make peace between the producers and the director.
