Emraan Hashmi Vs Salman Khan
The two actors have film titles that are uncannily similar to each other.
Salman Khan is competing with Emraan Hashmi. One of Salman’s next projects that will roll out of his banner has been registered as Haraam. A title registered by Salman Khan Ventures Pvt Ltd with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA) shows how he has managed to register the same title across multiple platforms — from films to TV shows to web series as well as documentaries — to prevent anyone from using the title. Salman’s registration of the title comes at a time when the production house Gobsmack Entertainment has registered a title for their small budget film Haraami directed by Shyam Madiraju and starring Emraan Hashmi. Emraan has just started shooting for the movie that is about a teenage pickpocket who operates along with his bunch of criminal colleagues, robbing train passengers of their wallets.
“The registration of film titles is a tricky affair and a lot of similar-looking titles get rejected. If the Emraan film has started off as Harami: The Bastard, Salman’s team would have rather quickly pushed across the title before any controversy arose so that their title Haraam was also approved,” says an industry source.
