Sayani nearly missed FAN

Sayani Gupta, who made an impressive debut in Margarita With A Straw, had a tough time bagging her second film, Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan. We hear that the actress almost missed a message on social media that was sent to her from the casting team of Fan. Initially she ignored it, thinking it was spam.

Then, call it intuition or plain luck, she was fiddling with her phone one night when she thought of deleting all unwanted messages from her inbox. That’s when she spotted the message from the Fan team.

Sayani went into panic mode as she sent a reply, being pretty sure that she had lost a golden opportunity of working in a Shah Rukh Khan film. 

Speaking of it, Sayani says, “Those days I would do too many auditions every day and this looked like an open casting call, whose deadline I had already missed. But apparently they were trying to get in touch with me for a while on my old phone number and then finally contacted me on Facebook. I wrote back not expecting a reply, but to my surprise I was asked to come to the Yash Raj office for an audition.”

She did not know what role she was auditioning for. “Only after they finalised me, did they reveal to me that I would work with SRK himself. And what an experience that has been to see him work so closely. My first day of shoot was the most memorable one. I still remember the date,  December 4 — what I wore, what I ate. I was star-struck but had to keep the excitement within me,” says Sayani.
