Sushant Singh Rajput's 'M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' releases on 30 September.

Mumbai: It was recently announced that Neeraj Pandey’s biopic on popular Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, 'M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' will be dubbed in Marathi. However, Raj Thackeray’s political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is not happy with the decision and has written to the distributors of the film against the move.

Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNCKS), the film wing of the MNS, reportedly has written to Fox Entertainment against releasing the Marathi dubbed version of the movie in the state. They are fine with the Hindi version, but won't allow the Marathi dubbed version to be screened in the state.

Ameya Khopkar, president of the wing, believes that dubbing a Hindi movie in to Marathi is bad for the Marathi film industry as it creates competition for Marathi films.

The makers had decided to dub it in Marathi due to the immense popularity of Dhoni, which they feel, transcends languages. They have also dubbed the film in Tamil and Telugu, the trailers of which were launched by popular actors Dhanush and Naveen Babu aka Nani respectively.

Will the political parties in South also follow suit?
