Boney Kapoor’s remake rush
Boney Kapoor has formed a new company to produce films in South Indian languages and Hindi as well.
The producer has been known to make films under his father’s banner SK Films, his own production house Narsimha Enterprises, and also Sridevi Productions, which was in his late wife’s name.
But ever since he has made a comeback to filmmaking, especially in the South, he has formed a new company to produce films in South Indian languages as well as in Hindi.
Boney had earlier picked up the remake rights of the Hindi film Pink to make it in Tamil as Nerkonda Parvai, and now he has done the opposite. He has picked up the rights of a Tamil film Comali — starring Jayam Ravi, Kajal Aggarwal and Samyuktha Hegde — to remake in Hindi. His son Arjun Kapoor will star in the lead role, which is based on a schoolboy who goes into a coma after an accident and wakes up 16 years later.
“We are pleased to have acquired remake rights of Comali for all languages in the world. Arjun will star in it,” says Boney, who is also producing an original Hindi film starring Ajay Devgn called Maidan, directed by Badhaai Ho director Amit Sharma. Incidentally, Amit had also directed his debut film Tevar for Boney.
Also, Boney has also picked up the remake rights of Badhaai Ho to make in Telugu.
