Ranveer Singh and Kangana Ranaut's films in trouble?
Kangana would have been in more trouble had Mental Hai Kya released in February.
Sometimes, when an actor has two film releases back-to-back, the second film doesn’t do well at the turnstiles. There is a chance that Ranveer Singh and Kangana Ranaut might face this challenge next year when the former’s Gully Boy, directed by Zoya Akhtar sees the light of day and the latter’s Mental Hai Kya comes out.
“Ranveer has Rohit Shetty’s film Simmba releasing on December 28. Seven weeks later, on Valentine’s Day, his film Gully Boy will release. Ranveer had no releases in 2017 and got Padmaavat in 2018. And now, as two of his anticipated films come back-to-back, he will have trouble getting audiences into theatres, twice over,” says a trade source.
Kangana would have been in more trouble had Mental Hai Kya released in February. But, the film’s makers showed better judgement and pushed it to March to save it from being slaughtered by Manikarnika, which releases on January 25. But there will be trouble still, reckon film experts.
